Way to Shiloh?
Biblical prophecy is one of the strongest 'proofs' of the authenticity, and reliability of scripture as God's own Word. One of the most powerful prophecies about the coming Messiah, or Christ, is that spoken by Jacob the father of the twelve who later became the twelve tribes of Israel. This prophecy was spoken to Judah 1900yrs BC. The patriarch Jacob said, in Genesis 49.10
"The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come."
The name "Shiloh" is an epithet of the Messiah, meaning 'peace maker'. Shiloh would be the one who makes peace between man and God. The prophecy states that the Jewish kingdom would not end until Messiah would come, for Judah's tribe would remain the chief tribe in Israel, in particular providing their kings (Sceptre or crown). Judah did indeed survive all other tribes and Christ was born into it. The prophecy must have been fulfilled prior to the destruction of Judah and Jerusalem in A.D. 70, by which time certainly all semblance of a sceptre had departed from Judah. Jesus Christ fulfilled this prophecy by being born just within the time indicated by the prophecy of Jacob, born in the last year of the reign of Herod Archelaus who succeeded the Maccabean princes, a reign that lasted a few years. Judah was then under Roman rule, the prophecy being fulfilled just in time. Thus, the title "WAY TO SHILOH" indicates that the website is, as it were, a signpost, with the things written on it intended to help a person seek and find the LORD, providing the way to Christ Jesus (Shiloh, the Peace Maker) the promised Messiah of God and the one true Saviour of men and women's soul's.
E'er since, by faith, I saw the stream
Thy flowing wounds supply,
Redeeming love has been my theme,
And shall be till I die.
William Cowper, 1731-1800
